Hotel Amenities and Guest Reviews - Is There a Correlation?

Lost in Boston - The Ultimate Collection

By Jill Jankoski

When you work in a hotel you know your work matters and your efforts are visible. Whether you are part of the maintenance staff or part of the administrative staff, what you do and how you do it matters. It reflects the level of quality and value your guests can expect to receive when they stay at your hotel. There are many different functions in the hospitality industry which must all work together in order for a hotel to function at its highest and best level. Every function relates directly to how the hotel is seen by guests, which is critical on many levels, not the least of which is guest comfort and satisfaction.

With that said, what are the critical parts and pieces which must come together for optimal functionality within a hotel. Among the many pieces of that puzzle are working conditions and hotel supplies. Working in a clean, well-maintained, upbeat environment is crucial for both guest and employee comfort. Having high quality hotel supplies and sturdy, heavy duty supply carts makes housekeeping much easier. Knowing that you are providing guests with a clean, well appointed room is a source of great pride as is putting out quality toiletries and rich coffee.

Within the room, fresh, fluffy towels and clean, crisp sheets covered with a pretty comforter or bedspread make a great first impression. High quality, easy-to-use hangers and sturdy, heavy duty luggage racks are also helpful, useful and, more importantly, noticed. Quality equal to the hotel's price point is much appreciated. Many people will include comments about the hotel supplies including the bed itself and how it sleeps, the toiletries and the overall cleanliness of their room in their appraisal of their overall stay. Surprisingly, people also comment on the smell of the hotel room and the hotel itself. The best scent is nothing and the second best scent a guest can smell is a waft of bleach or another cleaner. This is part of why rel=nofollow [http://www.hotelsupplies-online.com/]hotel supplies matter so much; they are an integral part of the face of a hotel.

Another point many travelers comment on, if they are affected by it, is complimentary toiletries. When you stay at a hotel, there is usually a small sign in the bathroom or on a vanity counter that offers basic toiletries such as shaving cream, shower caps and disposable razors, should you forget yours. The quality of these items usually varies greatly from one hotel to another but when guests need them, they are a lifesaver and when they leave comments regarding their stay, most people will comment on them. Extra coffee, creamer and towels are other hotel supplies also fall into this category. The littlest things can earn the highest of praise.

Wish I Could Stay (Fantasy Hotel)The bottom line is hotel supplies matter to the overall experience a guest has. While you might think it's just coffee or a towel or shampoo, everybody values different parts of their stay. If you're a buyer for your hotel, you are familiar with the hotel supplies available and where you can get them from. You are probably familiar, too, with which ones offer the best hotel supplies for the best prices. After all hotel supplies are a critical component of any hotel stay.

I Love Touring Venice Italy - Castello District Hotels

By Levi Reiss

The Castello district is the largest of Venice's six districts, locally known as sestiere. It's in the east of Venice and, unlike some of the others, people actually live there. This is the least touristy part of Venice, which may be an attraction for many. The area includes many historic churches. For your convenience we have listed these hotels in approximate order of cost, starting with the least expensive. We have personally verified all website addresses making sure that they include English-language pages. The exception is clearly identified.

Santa Maria della Pieta is a casa per ferie (vacation house) rather than a hotel. It does occupy the upper floors of two palaces but don't come here expecting luxury. You will enjoy the rooftop terrace. Some of the rooms are devoted to families, if you reserve early enough you may get one with six beds. There are 15 rooms. The address is Calle della Pieta, Castello 3701. Their website is Italian language only but the translation provides the basics.

The Hotel Scandinavia, originally built around the year 1000, was once a luxurious Eighteenth Century residence. According to tradition this was where Desdemona met Othello, the "Moor of Venice." Be that as it may, the hotel is right near the Santa Maria Formosa church and a typical Venetian square of the same name. There are 33 rooms. The hotel address is Campo Santa. Maria Formosa, Castello 5240.

The Ca' Formenta was an unimpressive Fifteenth Century building completely restored into a hotel in 2003. There is a rooftop terrace. I'm told that the restaurants and coffee houses in the neighborhood are filled with Venetians rather than tourists. If you don't speak Italian bring your phrase book. The street Via Garibaldi, named after the Italian national, was laid over a stream. The hotel address is Via Garibaldi, Castello 1650.

The Hotel Londra Palace was originally built in the mid-Nineteenth Century. Among its famous guests was Tchaikovsky who in 1877 wrote the first three movements of his 4th Symphony in room 106. The hotel has a bar and an upscale restaurant. There are 36 rooms and 17 suites. The hotel address is Riva degli Schiavoni, Castello 4171.

The Metropole, like the Hotel Londra Palace, has a music connection. Antionio Vivaldi taught music there. Try to get a rooftop room, or at least stop by the rooftop terraces. The place is just packed with antiques and beautiful curios many of which can be viewed on their website. The hotel boasts a Michelin two-star restaurant. There are 67 rooms and a total of 22 suites. The hotel address is Riva degli Schiavoni, Castello 4149.

Making Out Your Camping Check List

By Phillip Christian

Before you ever go camping, it is a good idea to make a list of supplies you will need. This will help you when you are shopping for them as well as serve as a check list of items you would not have access to once you have reached your camping destination should you forget. To begin, write down all the items you know you'll need. If you have ever camped before, this will probably be an easy tasks. Perhaps you have even forgotten a few items on past camping trips that you know you'll never leave behind again.

Reliance Products 5 Gallon Poly-Bagged Fold-A-Carrier Collapsible Water CarrierBegin with the essentials. First you'll need a living area. If you have a camper, this will be no problem. If you do not, however, you will need to decide what type of tent you will need. This will probably depend heavily on the number of people who will accompany you on your camping trip.

Once you have decided on a living area, you will need to figure your sleeping arrangements. Sleeping bags are very popular and are easy to pack. They also don't take up much space in a tent. Other options are air mattresses or cots. Though these, too, may pack rather easily, they are not as compact as sleeping bags. Nevertheless, you will need to keep comfort in mind and personal preference will play a big role in making this decision.

Next you will need to consider food. There are many items that are considered nonparrishable and that are easy to pack. They keep for a long period of time and do not need to be refrigerated. Other items such as meats, cheeses and milk will need to be refrigerated. For this you will need an ice chest and, of course, ice. If you are planning a long trip, you may want to bring more nonparrishable foods since the items that require refrigeration may spoil once the ice melts.

Water is absolutely essential. Bring plenty of drinking water with you. You never know when you'll need it and you can't always count on good drinking water being available at your camp site. If you plan to do any hiking while on your camping trip, be sure to bring water bottles that will hold your drinking water. You will need to take one along on each hike. You may also need water to use when cooking, so the more you have the better.

Bring plenty of cooking utensils and a grill to cook on. Your camp site may already be equipped with grills, but this is something you will definitely want to research before going on your trip.

3 Times When You MUST Invest in Travel Insurance

By Frank Poessel
If you are going away on vacation, obtaining a travel insurance policy can be a big help. Now, the big questions are when and why. There are three times when you absolutely must invest in Travel insurance

When Traveling abroad - Any time you travel outside of your home country you should make sure you have a travel insurance policy in place. It is so easy to lose your luggage when international travel requires multiple connections. You also have to remember that many times your health insurance does not cover you when traveling abroad. Also, replacement of any items lost abroad can be covered on your policy as well as emergency medical costs. Your policy may not cover all of the emergency medical costs, but it can cover a large portion. It is much better to be safe than sorry.

When Traveling with expensive equipment - now days, many people travel with laptop computers. When on a long distance trip your laptop may be stolen from your car or hotel room. They can be expensive to replace like other items such as jewelry. Travel insurance will cover a portion of that cost so you can replace it easily. It can also help in the event of an accident. When it does happen, you will be glad you payed the little extra for the policy than get stuck for major bills to replace stolen or broken equipment while you are on your trip.

When planning an expensive trip - Any time you travel in an expensive trip such as a cruise, flying first class, or travelling abroad you should consider travel insurance. It can cover you in case something happens. Many things covered are Death in the family, airline bankruptcy and in some case loss of employment. The travel insurance policy can keep you from losing your money. In the case of a bankruptcy, don't expect the airline to honor your ticket. They are filing bankruptcy because they are out of money and they are filing for a reason.

Travel insurance can offer you important protection anytime you travel abroad, with expensive items or on a long expensive trip. The money you spend for your travel can be kept safe with a travel insurance policy and it will save the money you could lose should something unforeseen happen during your trip. So, research your company, policy and coverage and then protect yourself with the coverage that best meets your needs. Travel insurance covers many different things. Determine what you really need and protect yourself the next time you plan to travel.

How to Travel With Books - Advantage and Disadvantage of Travel Books

By Thomas Ramons

Is it necessary to purchase a travel book or is it realistic that we can get similar information from other resources? Usually, most individuals have a major question on buying a travel book. So here are the pros and cons of purchasing one such book.

Advantages of a Travel Book

A travel book, which may be a paperback or e-book, comes in handy while traveling. Glancing through a travel book enables you to understand the custom and culture of a particular place in the world. So you can adapt yourself to that particular environment and stay there comfortably for longer periods.

They Come In Handy -- The travel guide comes in various forms such as, e-books, paperbacks and the file formats. You can have easy access to these books, which would assist you with all details compatible to the region you are traveling to.

They Provide Enormous Information -- Electronic or traditional travel guides provide you with answers to all types of questions such as how to learn some sayings that can be used in the place where you are traveling to? How to get data on where to reside, what to see and where to eat? How to get a clear knowledge about the history of a specific region or the atmosphere that it has?

They Suit To Your Requirements -- To access full information about a specific country or a region, both types of general and specific travel books are made available. The e-book may easily fit into your e-book reader whereas the paperback can fit into your backpack.

Disadvantages of Travel Book

The Price -- The e-book and paperback travel guides are very expensive compared to the information obtained from travel websites or from those who have moved or traveled to that region.

Qualitative Images In Travel Books -- Most travel books are in black and white. Only a few e-books consist of colored photos. Hence make a thorough revision before purchasing a travel guide or an e-book.

Travel Books Make The Trip Less Natural -- Traveling can be made more spontaneous by acquiring suggestions from locals than from travel books.

Conclusion

Considering travel books is essential while you are scheduling to travel. At the same time, never fail to revise the pros and cons in order to make the trip, the most memorable one.

Travel Books - Know the World Around You

By Amrith K. A

"The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it", quotes James Bryce. This adage is applicable for academic and hobby reading as well. The reader gains insight into diverse range of subjects and is in control of utilizing the knowledge, thus gained. The ideal ways in which mental interpretation may be presented include speech and writing. The advantage of having thoughts, knowledge and interpretability in the written form, provides scope for long term reading and one may preserve the literature for centuries.

Books that divulge travel details about exotic locations, travel options and most suitable methods to plan a tour are included in this specific category. Travel books offer a fascinating experience of knowing the pros, cons and the best things to expect after getting there, not to mention the typical weather, landmarks, festivals and other significant events. Wouldn't it be wonderful to traverse the globe through books? There are different categories that cater for a wide range of travelers and they are explored as follows:

Adventure:

The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to FreedomBooks in this category, incorporate details on a wide range of adventure travel destinations. Readers may avail information on the exotic wildlife safaris of Africa and the expeditions of Antarctica. A comprehensive data on exploration of countries like Vietnam, China and Japan or the islands of Lakshadweep and the Andaman are incorporated. All this and more, are included in books that deal with adventure travel. Information on trekking, hiking, water rafting, snorkeling, shark diving and much more may be availed from this category.

Culture:

Culture is a wide subject that is seldom encompassed in a single book or volume and is best when read in categorically earmarked pages. Most travel guides that take you on a cultural expedition are magazines that deal with cultural predispositions of a defined region, in the most elaborate and enthralling manner. Cultural adventure is ideal for travelers, keen on participating in the cultural extravaganza of a chosen destination. These books deal with time and season bound events and the detailed information provided, makes it an ideal choice for travelers.

Recreational:

Recreational travel is the most popular category as it can be held any time of the year and is not limited by geographic boundaries. Each destination is blessed with its own unique culture. Travel to amusement parks and nature's very own paradises across the world, is made easy with travel books. You may get a glimpse of Tarzan's tree house or take a trip to the wondrous Egypt. There is a surfeit of information available on the 'how' and 'where' of tour planning and the places to avail best deals. The type of journey and the 'must-see' places are lucidly presented in travel books.

The most well known publication houses that deal with travel books include 'The Lonely Planet Guides', Michelin Guides and 'The Moon Guides' which are apt for an adventure loving traveler. The internet is another important source for availing information on the most visited tourist destinations. Reviews from travelers offer detailed preview on the pros and cons of the trip and help the reader plan one that is ideally suited. Books on travel may have been replaced by the electronic media which is the present trend, yet exclusive books on travel will never go out of style.
